Hi, my name is Max. I am a Christian looking to start a home church and Bible study in Wagga Wagga.
I am not against organised Churches and I am not launching a campaign against them. I am floating the idea of starting a home church as an alternative for those who slip through the cracks of large organised congregations.
Also, there are no options in my area for those who hold to the Preterist view of eschatology. Sadly, this position is viewed as heresy by many Christians, and it can lead to a lonely worship life and a lack of fulfilling fellowship.
My motivation is shaped by the example of the early church as described in Acts 2:42–47:
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
All the believers were together and had everything in common.
They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
My idea is that we would take turns hosting Bible study and worship in our homes, sharing meals, studying scripture, praying, and enjoying fellowship together— a place where we can be ourselves, comfortable, casual, and encouraging of one another.
